Rams Fall 2-0 at Senators

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The 16th-ranked University of Mobile baseball team dropped a 2-0 ball game at Region XIII foe Auburn-Montgomery Tuesday evening.

The Rams (20-7) got a standout pitching performance from Zack Mann, but the Senator's duo of Ryan Butler and Brock Piper were a little bit better and got the "w."

Butler went 7 innings of 2-hit ball and fanned 4, while Piper came on in relief to pick up the save with 2 shutout innings. Mann was the tough-luck loser, getting tagged with the loss despite scattering 6 hits over 8 innings and allowing only 2 runs.

The Senators plated the games only 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st and it was zeroes the rest of the way. In that game-winning inning, designated hitter Brett McBurnett lived up to his position and stroked a 2-run double to do the damage.

Kevin Orso and Stephen Stork led Mobile with 1-for-3 evenings. AUM's Chase Burch was the game's only multi-hit performer and McBurnett finished 1-for-3 with the 2-run double.

Mobile next plays at home Friday and Saturday against McKendree University. The two teams play one game Friday at 2:00 and then finish the series with a double header Saturday at 1:00.
