UM Rebounds With Double-Header Sweep Of Belhaven

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Mobile baseball team (20-6) swept today’s double-header with Belhaven College (14-11) winning 11-6 and 6-4. To successfully rebound from a three-game skid, the Rams endured a wild see-saw affair in the first game and tacked on late runs to close out the Blazers in the second.

A Nate Thomas three-run homer and 3-0 advantage in the bottom of the first inning was quickly wiped away by a three RBI error by center fielder Carnell Parker that allowed the Blazers to take a 5-3 lead in the top of the second.

Parker (3-for-4) made quick amends however as he followed an RBI triple with a home plate steal that allowed the Ram to tie the game 5-5 in the third inning. Two more runs added in the fourth and four added in the sixth gave Mobile the win. Daniel Harper went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and Chris Copeland picked up the win after allowing only one earned run on two hits in four innings of work to help lead the Rams.

In the nightcap, the Rams broke a 4-4 tie by scoring a run in the bottom of the fifth and added another in the sixth as Copeland came in and allowed only two hits in the final two innings to ice the win for Jesse Luker. Luker earned the win, going four innings with two earned runs on four hits.

Bryan Mosley (3-for-3 with two runs scored), Nate Thomas (2-for-3 with two runs scored) and Justin Rosen (2-for-3 with a run and an RBI) helped pace the Rams.

The Rams will next play Faulkner University in Montgomery on Tuesday, March 15, at 3 p.m.
