Rams drop final two games of series

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- William Carey rebounded
from a 9-2 defeat on Friday night and took the remaining two games of
their GCAC series against the University of Mobile, 11-2 and 3-2 Saturday
afternoon at H.R. Morgan Field.
In game one, Carey (16-11, 8-7) trailed
the Rams (23-8, 10-5) early but a seven run third put the Crusaders
on top for good. Senior LHP Ryan
Jordan gave up two runs, eight hits, and struck out four over seven
innings to pick-up his third win of the season.
In game two, Junior RHP
Josh Johnson scattered five hits, two runs, and struck out eight over
seven innings, as the Crusaders knocked of
the
Rams 3-2.
Carey got on the board in the bottom of the first innings,
when Freshman Steven Johnson doubled and scored to give the Crusaders
an early
1-0 lead.
Carey added another run in the bottom of the second with
a solo homerun by Senior Brett Harris.
The Crusaders extended the lead
to 3-0 in the fifth, when Steven Johnson singled driving in Junior
Casey Ginn.
Josh Johnson ran into trouble into trouble in the sixth
inning. Carnell Parker and Joshua Banashak each singled to lead off
the inning for
the Rams. Johnson retired the next two Ram batters, but Nate
Thomas singled
to drive-in Parker and Banashak.
Johnson settled down and
retired the last four Ram batters and to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Mobile will next be in action at home on Tuesday, March
22, in a seven-inning scheduled doubleheader against the College of Ozarks. -30- |
