Rams Make A Move To #8 Ranking

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team leapt up to #8 in the latest NAIA Top-25 released Wednesday by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The Rams (23-7) earned 321 votes to make the move from #16 and are only 3 votes shy of 7th-ranked Spring Arbor University. Mobile started the season 18-2 and has gone 5-5 over the last 10, last taking 2-of-3 from McKendree University.

The majority of the votes likely stem from the fact that the Rams have racked up a 17-1 conference ledger in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. The overall marks of the three teams behind Mobile in the standings (LSU-Shreveport, William Carey and Belhaven) are 21-8, 21-10, and 24-9.

The 8th-ranked Rams will look to continue the conference dominance when they travel to Loyola University this weekend for a 3-game set.

The Rams are batting .338 as a team and have outscored their opponents 237-126. Jared Baria leads the offense with a .414 batting average, while David Cramblitt has 9 homers and 32 RBI.

Mobile's pitching staff has a collective ERA of 3.38, while Jesse Luker paces the staff with 4 complete games, a 2.30 ERA and 38 strikeouts.
