Badeaux named GCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
MOBILE, Ala. -- Simon Badeaux of the University of Mobile was chosen
the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the week for March
14-20, 2005 the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference announced Tuesday morning.
Badeaux picked up road wins last week coming in relief against Faulkner
University and starting and going the distance against William Carey
College.
Against Faulkner, Badeaux entered the game in the fifth inning with
the Rams trailing 3-1 and shut down the Eagles. Badeaux went the final
three innings allowing just three hits and one base on ball while striking
out three and picking up the victory as the Rams rallied for a 4-3 win.
In his second outing of the week, Badeaux started against William Carey
College and went the distance going nine innings allowing just six hits
and two earned runs while striking out 14 batters in the nine-inning
complete game victory. The 14 strikeouts was just one shy of a school
record 15 set by current Minnesota Twin, J.C. Romero set on March 8,
1997 against Loyola University. Simon, a junior, is a native of Bourg,
Louisiana.
