College
of the Ozarks sweeps past Mobile in baseball action
MOBILE, Ala. -- The University of Mobile baseball team
lost for the fourth straight time as College of the Ozarks swept the
Rams in two games
winning the first game 6-4 and the second game
8-6 Wednesday afternoon at home.
In the opener, the Rams fell behind in the first inning
2-0 but rallied back for three runs in the bottom of half of the inning.
After Carnell Parker doubled to start the game, Parker came around
to score
on Lance
Howard's
RBI
double. Brian
Mosley then tripled home Howard to tie the game at 2-2. A Nate
Thomas RBI ground out gave Mobile a 3-2 advantage.
Howard finished the game going 3-for-4 with a double,
a stolen base and a RBI.
However, College of the Ozarks struck back for two more
runs in the top of the third inning to re-take the lead at 4-3.
Mobile tied things up in the bottom of the sixth inning
on an unearned run, but Ozarks scored two more in the top of the eighth
inning and held on for a 6-4 win.
Ron McMillan took the loss, pitching one inning in relief
and giving up two earned runs on three hits.
In the second game, Mobile fell behind 8-0 after the
top of the third inning but rallied back for six runs over the next
four innings to pull within 8-6. However, Jason Reinsch closed
the door on Mobile's rally by pitching the final 1.1 innings and allowing
no base runners in earning the save.
Josh Banashak went 2-for-4 in the game with a double
and Ron McMillan was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
John Kalb took the loss going just one and a third innings,
allowing five earned runs on seven hits.
The Rams fall to 23-10 on the season and will next be
in action at home on Friday, March 25 against Mount Mercy College in
a 2 p.m. game.
