6th-Ranked Rams Split at Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The 6th-ranked University of Mobile baseball team split a double header at Faulkner University Wednesday afternoon. Mobile took the opener 9-8 and then Faulkner picked up a 5-4 win in the finale.

In the game one victory, the Mobile offense erupted for 15 hits to plate 9 runs off of Faulkner pitchers Topher Blanchette and Jordan Cowart. Six Rams recorded multi-hit games to make a winner out of Zack Mann after 6 innings of work.

Jared Baria went 3-for-4, Kevin Orso finished 2-for-3 with a homer and 3 RBI, Brett Barber finished 3-for-4, Carlos Romero went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI, Nelson Curry went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI and Stephen Stork finished 2-for-5.

Game 2 was a different story as the Faulkner pitching duo of Roberto Ferguson and Matt Davis limited the Rams to only 1 run through the first 6 innings of play. The Eagles used that to build a 5-1 lead before holding on for the win.

Daine Solomon went 3-for-4 for Mobile, Carlos Romero went 2-for-3 with a 3-run homer, and Jared Baria went 1-for-3 to extend his school-record hitting streak to 21 games. Romero's homer in the 7th set a new school record for team home runs in a season. The Rams now have 49 bombs on the year, breaking the old record of 48 in 1999.
