Orso Earns Conference Honor

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile's Kevin Orso was tabbed the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week ending April 6, 2008. The award is the second such honor this season for the Satsuma native.

Orso sizzled at the plate in the 4 games on the week. The junior slugged 1.273 and posted an on-base percentage of .588 while smacking 3 home runs to give him 9 for the season. In the opener, against Region XIII foe Faulkner, Orso went 2-for-3 with a homer and 3 RBI. Against Belhaven, Orso went 3-4 at the plate with 4 walks and 2 homers.

On the season, Orso is batting .383 and slugging .674 with 9 homers and 42 RBI. Orso and the Rams will travel across town to battle rival Spring Hill College in a 3-game GCAC series this weekend.

The two teams will begin the series with a 6:00 game on Friday and then finish with a 1:00 double header Saturday.
