Splits Double-Header With Belhaven
MOBILE,
Ala. – The University of Mobile (18-22) split Saturday’s double-header
with Belhaven College (18-27), losing the first game 4-3 and winning
the second 10-0 in a mercy-ruled five innings.
Mobile
held a 2-1 lead in the first game until Belhaven’s Buddy Ryrick hit
a three-run home run in the top of the sixth to give the Blazer’s the
edge and ultimately the win.
Mobile
picked up their third and final run of the game in the bottom of the
seventh off a Jud McWain double to left field.
Mobile’s
Danny Arroyo was charged with the loss as he scattered five hits while
giving up two earned runs in 6.2 innings pitched.
In
the nightcap UM’s Leland Howard pitched a no-hitter while Ricardo
Rolle (4-for-4 with two runs scored and five RBIs), Raul Santana
(3-for-4
with two runs scored) and Ricky Smith (three-run homer) helped lead
a blistering Rams attack at the plate.
Mobile
will next play host to William Carey College on Friday, April 23, at
2 p.m. They will close out that three-game conference series the following
day with a double-header set to start at 1 p.m.
