Rams
and Badgers meet in season ending series
MOBILE,
Ala. -- The University of Mobile (19-24, 14-13) will travel across
town this coming weekend when they square off against rival Spring
Hill College (17-34, 6-21) in both teams final regular season series.
Mobile
is currently in second place in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference
standings, 2.5 games behind second place Louisiana State University-Shreveport
after loosing two of three last weekend to conference leader William
Carey College.
When
the series begins tomorrow, Friday, April 30, Mobile will be looking
for a season sweep of Spring Hill after taking all three games of the
first series back in March.
In the
first game played at Hank Aaron Stadium, the Rams scored six runs in
the final three innings to win the opener 6-3. John Price went
7.2 innings allowing three runs (one earned) on eight hits in picking
up the win.
After
playing the opener at “The Hank”, the series shifted to the University
of Mobile campus where the Rams swept a doubleheader the very next
day.
The Rams
scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning and got a complete
game win from pitcher Danny Aroyo as Mobile took game two 3-2.
In the
finale, the Rams jumped all over Spring Hill pitching by scoring 13
runs in the first three innings and taking game three 13-3 in a mercy
rule-shortened five inning game.
In order
for the Rams to finish in second place, they must win all three against
the Badgers and hope Belhaven can do the same against Louisiana State
University-Shreveport.
The Gulf
Coast Athletic Conference Tournament will be played Wednesday, May
5 – Saturday, May 8 in Hattiesburg, Miss.
