Mobile Signs Faulkner State Products
MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile baseball team announced the signing of four Faulkner State University products for the 2010 season.
1B/3B Cody Barber, SP Chris Peacock, RP John Ladnier and RHP Jeff Lyons will take their talents to Mobile for the 2010 season and have plenty of chances to shine as the Rams lose 11 seniors from last year’s squad.
Barber, a Daphne HS product, hit .358 with 56 runs scored, 14 doubles, 7 home runs and 46 RBI last season for the Sun Chiefs. Cody’s brother Brett was an All-Region selection for Mobile in 2007.
Ladnier turned in an impressive performance on the mound for the Sun Chiefs, racking up a 6-2 record and 5 saves while posting a 2.70 ERA. The former Faith Academy standout limited opponents to a .224 batting average in 50 innings of work and fanned 22.
Lyons led the team in strikeouts, fanning 47 batters in 62.2 innings of work, while winning three games and saving three games. The McGill-Toolen product posted a 4.02 ERA in 18 appearances and held opponents to a .263 average.
Peacock comes to Mobile after limiting opposing hitters to a .213 batting average in 40.2 innings of action. The former Daphne High School standout posted a 3-3 record in 13 appearances as the Sun Chiefs’ pitching staff ranked in the top five in the Alabama Community College Conference in ERA and hits allowed.
