MOBILE, Ala--- The NAIA released the latest men's and women's Top-25 polls and the University of Mobile received votes in each of them.
On the men's side, the Rams were only 12 votes shy of cracking the top-25. Mobile's men received 53 votes to place the team 26th overall, with Martin Methodist ranked #25, receiving 65 votes.
Mobile has been red-hot since Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play started, bouncing back from a 5-5 non-conference record to force a tie for first place in the GCAC with an 8-1 conference ledger. The Rams are tied with LSU-Shreveport who is ranked #5 in the NAIA poll.
Mobile is led by Robert Jones with 21 points and 8 rebounds, while Walter Fitzgerald averages 15 points and just-under 4 steals per game. The Rams are 13-6 overall and play at LSU-Shreveport Saturday at 4:00 pm in a battle for conference supremacy.
Meanwhile, the Lady Rams find themselves ranked #36 after receiving 3 votes in the latest poll. The Lady Rams are 11-9 overall, but have turned up the heat in conference play and have an impressive 7-2 GCAC record. The only conference losses have been to #16 Loyola and #18 Xavier.
Sherri McIntosh and Danielle Goodly lead Mobile with 13 points per game and the Lady Rams next play at LSU-Shreveport Saturday at 2:00 pm.
