UM Men Jump Into Poll

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team jumped into the NAIA Top-25 Wednesday afternoon, receiving 58 votes.

The Rams are 15-7 overall and 10-2 in the GCAC, tied for 2nd place in the conference with Xavier University. Fellow GCAC opponents LSU-Shreveport (#3) and Xavier (#8) are also in the latest poll.

After struggling to a 4-5 mark in their first 9 games of the season, the Rams have won 11-of-13 games to make a move in the poll. The only 2 losses in that stretch were to the 3rd-ranked Pilots, including a 2-points setback at home.

Mobile is currently on a 2-game win streak after beating Dillard University and William Carey. Mobile next plays at Loyola University Thursday, Feb. 14th at 7:30 pm.

The Rams have used balance to achieve the rating. Mobile is in the top-15 in the NAIA in both field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense. The Rams shoot 49% and hold opponents to 41% from the field. Robert Jones leads the Rams with 20 points and 8 rebounds per game.

Women Receive Votes....

The University of Mobile women's basketball team also received recognition in the latest poll, receiving 2 votes. The Lady Rams are 13-11 overall and 9-3 in GCAC action. The UM women will have a chance to make some noise Thursday, Feb. 14th when they travel to #16 Loyola University for a 5:30 start time.

The Lady Wolfpack are 1st in the GCAC standings. The Lady Rams are tied for 2nd in the conference with Xavier University. Danielle Goodly and Sherri McIntosh pace Mobile, each scoring 13 points per game.

The UM women are on a 2-game win streak, having bounced back from losses to West Alabama and LSU-Shreveport with wins over Dillard and William Carey.
