UM Golfers Honored By GCAC HATTIESBURG, Miss—The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference released the 2009 Spring Sports Players of the Week awards for the week ending March 1st. Maegan Rice was named GCAC Women’s Golfer of the Week, while Alejandro Salcedo was tabbed GCAC Men’s Golfer of the Week. Rice and the Lady Rams competed at the Ann Rhoads Shootout, hosted by Birmingham Southern and placed 9th as a team, while Rice finished 11th individually. The two-time NAIA All-American carded a +19 161 (83, 78) in the tournament. On the men’s side, the Rams finished 2nd at the FSCC Spring Invitational thanks in large part to Salcedo’s 2nd place finish. Salcedo carded a final-round 73 to finish at 4-over-par with a 148 for the two-round event. |
