Rams 2-0 in GCAC Action

JACKSON, Miss-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team stayed undefeated in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play by dominating the second half on their way to a 69-60 victory over Tougaloo College.

The two teams combined for only 17 field goals in the opening half, and Tougaloo climbed ahead by as much as 9 points before heading into the break with a 29-24 lead over the visiting Rams.

The second half was a much different story for Mobile, as the Rams improved their shooting percentage from 34% in the opening period to 59% in the final period to take control of the game. Robert Jones poured in 16 second-half points, while Donte Walker gave the Rams 9 points in the half.

Tougaloo led by 9 at the 15:48 mark in the half, but Mobile retook the lead, 48-47 with 8:29 remaining, on a basket from Jones and never looked back, leading by as much as 12 points before holding on at the end. Jones finished with 23 points, Steve Pellan added 11, and Derrell Moreaux chipped in 10 points for Mobile.

The Rams (7-5, 2-0) next play at Dillard University Thursday, January 10th at 7:30 pm.
