Mobile Men Move to 3-0 in GCAC

NEW ORLEANS, Louis-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team moved to 3-0 in conference action with a 66-58 win at Dillard University Thursday evening.

Dillard built up an early 7-2 lead in the first half of play, but the Rams finally tied things up with 10:40 remaining, and then took their first lead, 19-17, at the 8:37 mark when Tim Malone found Robert Jones for a basket inside.

From there, Mobile built up a lead by as much as 11, before heading into the half with a 37-28 edge. The Rams shot 50% from the floor and hit 4-of-8 from three-point range to build the lead.

In the second half of action, Mobile built up a 15-point lead with 13:15 remaining when Steve Pellan hit a 3-pointer and then followed that up with a steal and dunk to give his team a 53-38 advantage. The Rams kept control and finished off the win.

Robert Jones led the team with 17 points and 8 rebounds, Steve Pellan added 14 points, Walter Fitzgerald poured in 12 points, and Derrell Moreaux chipped in 11 points for the Rams.

Mobile (8-5, 3-0) next plays at home Saturday, January 12th at 7:00 pm v. GCAC foe SUNO.
