Wins Two with Double-header Sweep of LSU-Shreveport, Raise Money
for Fight against Diabetes
MOBILE,
Ala. -- The University of Mobile (14-6, 4-2) shot 80 percent from the
floor in the second half and 70 percent for the game as they picked
up their fourth consecutive conference win Saturday night at home in
Pharr Gymnasium with an 89-80 victory over LSU-Shreveport.
Mobile
was led by Tramaine Perry who scored a total of 24 points while grabbing
11 rebounds to post yet another double-double this season.
Jacob
Frasier was perfect on the night shooting 7-of-7 (2-of-2, 3 FG) from
the floor to go along with 2-of-2 from the free-throw line to give
him 18 points on the night. Gimel Lewis also scored in double
figures with 13 points to go along with five rebounds and four blocked
shots.
LSU-Shreveport
stayed close for most of the first half before Mobile opened up its
biggest lead of the game at 21 points, 69-48 at the 9:43 mark of the
second half.
The Pilots
were led by their five starters, as each player scored in double figures.
In the
first game of the night, the University of Mobile (11-6, 5-1) women’s
basketball team improved to 5-1 in conference play with a convincing
70-45 victory over LSU-Shreveport.
The Pilots
remained close up until halftime at 30-20, but Mobile outscored LSU-Shreveport
40-25 in the second half to take the GCAC contest.
Three
pointers were abundant in each of the two games as players on both
the men’s and women’s basketball teams were raising money for the fight
against diabetes with every three pointer they made.
The two
teams totaled 11 three pointers on the evening with donations for each
three pointer going to the research of diabetes.
