Men Win Fifth Straight
MOBILE,
Ala. – Nip and tuck for most of the first half, the University of
Mobile men’s basketball team used a 6-0 run in the final two minutes
of the first half and outscored Tougaloo College 41-27 in the second
half to handily defeat the Bulldogs 79-54. Four Rams scored in double-figures
in helping the Rams to their fifth straight win.
Going
to the rack and drawing the foul, Tramaine Perry hit the first of
two double-bonus free throws to spark a 6-0 run with 2:08 remaining
in the first half. Out-rebounding the Bulldogs 19-9, the Rams took
a 38-27 lead into the half.
Tougaloo
came out in the second half and immediately cut the Rams lead to
nine twice before succumbing to a 14-4 run sparked by a Seluynn Palmer
jumper with 13:40 remaining. After that, the Rams never looked back.
Mobile,
who led by as many 28, was led by GCAC Player of the Week Tramaine
Perry’s 18 points and 6 rebounds. Gimel Lewis (15 points), Jacob
Frasier (13) and Ravi Amunugama (11) rounded out UM players scoring
in double-figures.
Tougaloo
College (3-14, 1-6) was led by Dennis Holder’s 14 points.
The
Rams (15-6, 5-2) hit the road for a Thursday match with conference
leader Xavier University, in New Orleans, La.
