Mobile Men Win Fifth Straight

MOBILE, Ala. – Nip and tuck for most of the first half, the University of Mobile men’s basketball team used a 6-0 run in the final two minutes of the first half and outscored Tougaloo College 41-27 in the second half to handily defeat the Bulldogs 79-54. Four Rams scored in double-figures in helping the Rams to their fifth straight win.

Going to the rack and drawing the foul, Tramaine Perry hit the first of two double-bonus free throws to spark a 6-0 run with 2:08 remaining in the first half. Out-rebounding the Bulldogs 19-9, the Rams took a 38-27 lead into the half.

Tougaloo came out in the second half and immediately cut the Rams lead to nine twice before succumbing to a 14-4 run sparked by a Seluynn Palmer jumper with 13:40 remaining. After that, the Rams never looked back.

Mobile, who led by as many 28, was led by GCAC Player of the Week Tramaine Perry’s 18 points and 6 rebounds. Gimel Lewis (15 points), Jacob Frasier (13) and Ravi Amunugama (11) rounded out UM players scoring in double-figures.

Tougaloo College (3-14, 1-6) was led by Dennis Holder’s 14 points.

The Rams (15-6, 5-2) hit the road for a Thursday match with conference leader Xavier University, in New Orleans, La.
