Men’s team moves up to No. 6 in Top 25, women’s
team remains at No. 16
MOBILE, Ala. -- The University of Mobile (18-3, 7-0) picked up two more
wins last week including a road victory over Xavier University and a
14 point home win Saturday night against Tougaloo College to improve
to No. 6 in this week’s NAIA Top 25 National Poll the NAIA announced
on Wednesday.
The Rams, who improved one spot from last week’s poll, have won
12 games in a row, including their first seven conference games of the
season. Mobile has also won 21 games in a row at home, a streak that
dates back to the 2003-04 season.
Senior point guard Gabe Feagin, who leads the team in assists with 103,
scored 22 points and recorded eight assists in Saturday’s win over
Tougaloo.
LSU-Shreveport, also of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, remains
at No. 16 in this weeks poll and Xavier University received five votes.
The Mobile women’s team (15-4, 6-1) remained at No. 16 in this
weeks women’s NAIA Top 25 National Poll after splitting games last
week with Xavier University and Tougaloo College.
The Rams suffered their first and only conference loss of the season
last Thursday night in New Orleans against Xavier, 67-61 while responding
on Saturday night with a 71-59 win over Tougaloo.
Mobile trails Xavier in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference standings
by just one game and will get their chance for revenge when they host
the Gold Nuggets on Saturday, Feb. 19.
Xavier dropped one spot this week to No. 9 and Dillard University fell
two spots to No. 25.
Both teams will return to action tomorrow night against Southern University-New
Orleans on the road in New Orleans, Louisiana. The women’s game
will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the men’s game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
