Crusaders Drop Rams In Double-Overtime

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team fell 72-70 in double-overtime Thursday evening against visiting William Carey University.

Mobile (12-9, 4-6) got 17 points and 11 rebounds from Donte Walker and 12 points apiece from Brock Dockery and Matthew Turner. Julius Blanks led the Crusaders with a game-high 20 points.

William Carey led by as much as 10 points in the opening half before taking a 7 point lead into the break. In the second half, the Rams never lead, but rallied from a 55-51 deficit to force overtime when Paul Holmes and Donte Walker went back-to-back with two pointers, with Walkers' coming with only 7 seconds remaining to tie it at 55-55.

In the second overtime, William Carey scored the first six points for a six-point lead with 1:09 left. Treii Pace brought Mobile within 3 with a bucket with 44 seconds remaining, and the Lelund LeDay chased down an offensive rebound and hit a fall-away three-pointer from the corner with only 2 seconds on the clock to force a second overtime at 63-63.

Blanks put William Carey ahead for good in the second overtime with a bucket with only 8 seconds remaining. Mobile next plays at home Saturday, Feb. 7 against Loyola University at 7 pm.
