Rams defeat William Carey College for 16th straight victory
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The University of Mobile (22-3, 11-0) overcame
a slow start and won their 16th straight game overall as the Rams defeated
William Carey College 78-62 Saturday night on the road in Gulf Coast
Athletic Conference action.
Needing over five minutes before taking their first lead of the game
at 6-4 on a three point field goal by Chris Bolden, the Rams would eventually
begin to pull away from the Crusaders by building a 10 point lead 18-8
at the 9:40 mark of the first half.
Leading by nine points with 2:40 remaining in the first half, the Rams
used an 11-3 run highlighted by Ravi Amunagama’s three pointer
at the end of the half to take a commanding 42-25 lead into the locker
room.
In the second half, Mobile led by as much as 23 points and William Carey
never really threatened only getting to within 12 points at 74-62 with
a 1:37 remaining.
Mobile was led by a balanced attack featuring all 11 players that saw
action scoring and three players scoring in double figures.
Chris Bolden led the Rams with 17 points, while Tramaine Perry added
12 and Gabe Feagin notched 11 points of his own.
Mobile will next be in action at home on Thursday, Feb. 10 when the
Rams hosts Loyola University at Pharr Gymnasium. The Rams defeated Loyola
70-48 the first time these two teams met back on Jan. 10 in New Orleans.
Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. Lambert’s Café will be at that
night’s game throwing rolls into the crowd at halftime.
