UM Splits
Pair of games with Loyola University-New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The
University of Mobile split a pair of games with Loyola University Thursday
night as the men picked up their ninth conference win of the season
with a 83-58 romping of the Wolfpack while the UM women dropped their
third consecutive conference game with a 67-65 setback to Loyola.
Coming off a road loss
to LSU-Shreveport in which they surrendered a 12-point second half
lead, the Rams exploded out of the gate jumping out to a 35-26 halftime
advantage. However, this time the Rams secured the Gulf Coast
Athletic Conference victory by outscoring the Wolfpack 48-32 in the
second half, shooting 67 percent from the floor in pulling away from
Loyola.
Gimel Lewis and Tramaine
Perry teamed up to score 37 points and Jacob Frasier came off the bench
to score 11 points as the Rams improve to 19-8 and 9-4 in conference
play.
In the first game of the
night, the UM women dropped their third consecutive game to Loyola
falling 67-65.
Four Wolfpack players scored
in double figures and Dani Holland recorded a double-double scoring
19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Mobile was led by Crystal
Coston who finished with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting and pulled down
13 rebounds in a losing effort.
Both teams will return
to the court on Saturday, Feb. 14 when Mobile host GCAC rival William
Carey College.
