Rams Complete Season Sweep of
Tougaloo with 73-63 Win
TOUGALOO, Miss. -- The University of Mobile Rams
(22-8, 12-4) defeated Tougaloo
College 73-63 Saturday night at the Health & Wellness Center in Tougaloo,
Miss.
With the win, the Rams sweep the season series and remain in a three-way
tie atop the GCAC standings along with Xavier University and Southern
University-New Orleans (SUNO) at 12-4.
Tramaine Perry scored a season-high 27 points with 22 coming in the second
half to lead the Rams.
Larry Burgess came off the bench to add 15 points and Gimel Lewis who
struggled in the first half finished the game with 10 points and seven
rebounds.
Trailing 28-20 at halftime, the Bulldogs exploded out of the lockeroom and
cut the lead to 32-28 just two and a half minutes into the second half.
However, the Rams would respond. Back-to-back jump shots by Perry coming
out of a timeout extended the Ram lead back to a comfortable eight point
margin.
The Rams were never threatened again as the Bulldogs failed to get any
closer.
After falling behind 8-5 just five minutes into the game, the Rams
engineered a 14-2 run over the next 12 minutes egnited by stingy defense
to take a 19-10 lead with just 3:15 to play in the half.
The Bulldogs were led by Johnathan Oliver with 17 points.
Mobile's final road game comes this Thursday, Feb. 26 when the Rams travel
to New Orleans,
La. for a critical showdown with SUNO.
