Rams fall on Senior Night

MOBILE, Ala. -- Six University of Mobile seniors were unable to get a win in their final home game in Pharr Gymnasium as Southern University-New Orleans defeated Mobile 79-68 Thursday night on Senior Night at the University of Mobile.

Senior and UM all-time leading scorer Tramaine Perry did his best to keep the Rams in the game by scoring 22 points but it wasn’t enough as SUNO improved to 16-8 and 11-6 in conference with the win.

Trailing 45-30 at the half, the Rams cut the lead to five points at 66-61 when senior, center, Gimel Lewis stole the ball away from a SUNO opponent and broke away for a slam dunk with just 2:33 remaining in the game.

However, the Knights would sink four consecutive free throws to go back ahead by nine and never look back.

Free throws told the story as the Rams connected on just 9-of-22 for 40.9 percent and the Knights knocked down 29-of-36 free throws in the game for 80.6 percent.

The Rams will play their final regular season game of the year on Saturday night at 7 p.m. when the team goes across town to face rival Spring Hill College in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference season finale.
