Rams Fall To Badgers 77-71

MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile men’s basketball team fell 77-71 to visiting Spring Hill College to close out the regular season Saturday evening.

Mobile (14-15, 6-12) is the No. 8 seed in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, while Spring Hill (17-10, 11-7) is tied with Xavier for the No. 4 slot. The GCAC Tournament begins Tuesday, March 3rd and the Rams will host No. 9 seed William Carey at 7 pm in first round action.

The Badgers shot over 50% in each half, finishing at 51% for the game, while the Rams fell to 41% from the field in the final half after hitting 55% in the opening period. Donte Walker led Mobile with a game-high 24 points, while Treii Pace added 12 points for the Rams.

Spring Hill got 22 points from Jeremy Price, 11 points from Antonio Burch and 10 points each from Tyler Schwab and Chris Dees Jr.

Spring Hill finished the game 18-25 from the charity stripe, while the Rams made only 11 trips, converting 6 of them.

The Rams controlled the first part of the opening half, building a 20-9 advantage and then leading 24-14 with 8:33 left on a bucket from Sasa Lazic. But, the Badgers scored 21 points over the next 6 minutes-plus to trim the deficit to 36-35 with 1:49 to go. Jeremy Price gave Spring Hill its first lead of the game with a last-second three ball to take a 40-39 lead into intermission.

Mobile fought back in the second half to tie it up 46-46 with 15:07 left on a basket from Lelund LeDay. From there, the Badgers went on a 12-2 spurt to take a 58-48 advantage with 9:17 to go. The Badgers led by as much as 12 down the stretch and the Rams could get no closer than 6 points the rest of the way.
