Feb. 28, 2005 GCAC Announces Conference Basketball Tournament Schedule MOBILE, Ala. -- The University of Mobile’s path to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament championship just got a little tougher as the tournament’s schedule was announced late Sunday evening. The women’s team, which defeated Spring Hill College on Saturday night, wrapped up the number two seed and will face the winner of Tuesday’s play-in game between No. 7 seed LSU-Shreveport and No. 10 seed Tougaloo College on Wednesday, March 2 at 8 a.m. in Fogleman Arena on the Tulane University campus in New Orleans, Louisiana. The game’s early start time is a result of playing a combination of eight men’s and women’s tournament games in the same arena in one day. The Rams are a combined 4-0 this season against LSU-Shreveport and Tougaloo. If the Rams win on Wednesday, they will play again on Thursday, March 3 at 2 p.m. against the winner of Loyola University and Spring Hill College in the semi-finals. The women’s championship game is set for Saturday, March 5 at 12:30 p.m. The men’s team, who is also coming off a win on Saturday against cross-town rival Spring Hill College, wrapped up Gulf Coast Athletic Conference co-championship honors tying LSU-Shreveport at 16-2 in conference action. However, as a result of the conference tiebreaker, the Rams will head into this week’s conference tournament as the number two seed. The Rams will play their first game of the tournament on Wednesday, March 2 at 10 a.m. immediately following the conclusion of the tournament’s first game featuring the Mobile women. Mobile will face the winner of Tuesday’s play-in game between No. 7 seed Belhaven College and No.10 seed Spring Hill College. The Rams are a combined 4-0 against the two teams this season. If the Rams win on Wednesday, they will play again on Thursday, March 3 at 4 p.m. against the winner of Xavier University and William Carey College in the semi-finals.
