Rams beat Badgers, move on to semi-finals
NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Larry Burgess drilled five three pointers
in helping lead the University of Mobile (28-5) to a 72-58 victory over
Spring Hill College in the second round of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference
Tournament Wednesday morning in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Spring Hill, the No. 10 seed in the tournament, upset No.
7 seeded Tougaloo College yesterday in the first round and gave the No.
2 seeded Rams all they could handle in the first half before Mobile was
able to pull away.
Leading by just one point at the break, 28-27, Mobile opened
the second half up on a 22-10 run to go ahead by 13 points, 50-37, at
the 12:01 mark of the second half. Burgess, who scored 15 points
in the game, made all five of his three pointers in the second half in
helping the Rams expand their lead.
Tramaine Perry added 14 points for Mobile on 6-of-11
shooting from the field and Chris Bolden scored 12 points for the Rams
who defeated Spring Hill three times in one season for the second consecutive
year.
Mobile will play again tomorrow, March 3 at 4 p.m. against
the winner of the William Carey College and Xavier University match-up.
