Postseason Road Set For #22 Rams
The 22nd-ranked Rams likely have an at-large bid in the bag for the 2008 NAIA National Tournament which begins March 19th in Kansas City, but winning the conference title would be even sweeter and give Mobile a better seeding in the National Tournament. For the GCAC Tourney, the Rams are the #2 seed in the field of 10, behind LSU-Shreveport. Mobile is exempt from Monday night's action which will pit #10 Dillard v. #7 William Carey, and #9 SUNO v. #8 Belhaven. Mobile will battle the Dillard/William Carey winner Wednesday March 5th at 7:00 pm, while the SUNO/Belhaven victory will travel to Shreveport on the same date. Other Wednesday match ups will be #6 Loyola v. #3 Xavier and #5 Spring Hill v. #4 Tougaloo. From there, assuming Mobile wins out, the Rams would host the Loyola/Xavier winner on Friday night and then the Championship Game would take place Monday night. All games are played at the higher seed which means the Rams would need someone to knock off the Pilots if they have any hope of hosting the final. Mobile is a combined 6-0 on the season against Dillard, William Carey and Xavier, while the Rams split with Loyola and were swept by the Pilots of LSU-Shreveport. MOBILE, Ala—The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference released the seedings for the 2008 GCAC Men's Basketball Tournament and now the Rams know what it will take to win the GCAC Championship.
