RAMS END SEASON WITH FIRST ROUND LOSS TO XAVIER
New Orleans, La. - Unable to hold onto a 35-28 lead at the half,
the University of Mobile men's basketball team (19-13) ended
their season with a 74-69 first round loss to the Xavier
University Gold Rush in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference
tournament held at the Alario Center in New Orleans, LA.
Tying the score at 42-42 with 16:00 remaining in the second
half, the Gold Rush went on an 8-0 run to open up a 55-47 lead.
Despite a late run by the Rams, Xavier (22-10) forced Mobile to
commit 22 second-half turnovers to help them hold on for the
win. A 12-point differential in points off turnovers proved to
be the key statistic as the Gold Rush move into the semi-finals
of the conference tournament.
Mobile was led by Gimel Lewis' 18 points with Larry Burgess
getting 13 and Seluynn Palmer 10.
The Gold Rush were led by Ashaolu Adeleolu (21 points), Chevis
