Rams sign Robert Jones from Westwood High School
MOBILE,
Ala. -- Robert Jones has signed to play basketball next season for
head coach Joe Niland and the University of Mobile basketball team
the school announced on Monday.
Jones is a 6-5, forward from Westwood
High School in Fort Pierce, Florida. At Westwood High School, Jones
was a 5-A Second-Team All-State selection
where he averaged 15 points and eight rebounds per game. Jones led
his team to a 24-7 season in 2004-05 and a sectional championship.
Jones was also named to the All-Palm Beach Post First-Team.
“Robert is an outstanding athlete that was recruited
as a major football prospect,” UM head coach Joe Niland said. “He
has a great feel for the game and will be able to come in and compete
right away.
In addition to being a great athlete, he is also a honor student.”
Jones
is the fourth player to sign this off-season to play basketball next
season at the University of Mobile joining Derrell Moreaux, Jr.,
of Washington-Marion Magnet High School in Lake Charles, La., Clinton
Thomas of Choctaw County High School in Butler, Ala., and Todd Bostic,
a transfer from the University of New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana.
