Rams
stake revenge with win over Faulkner University
MOBILE, Ala. -- The University of Mobile
(5-1) nailed 13-of-14 free throws in the final 1:18 of the game as
the Rams held off Faulkner University (2-1) 84-71 Tuesday night at
home in Pharr Gymnasium.
The Rams, who exacted some revenge on the Eagles
for an earlier season loss in Montgomery, led from start to finish
and built a 15 point second half lead with just over 12 minutes to
play before Faulkner rallied to cut the lead down to six points at
71-65 on a Kellen Cole three pointer with just 1:25 to play.
However, the Rams, who hit 30-of-40 free throws
in the game, knocked down 13 of their final 14 free throws to pull
away.
The Rams were led inside by senior Gimel Lewis
who scored 19 points on 7-of-7 shooting from the field and grabbed
seven rebounds while blocking one shot and coming up with three steals. Senior
Tramaine Perry led the Rams from the outside scoring 20 points on
7-of-13
shooting
and 2-of-3 shooting from behind the three-point line.
Gabe Feagin scored 13 points and Chris Bolden
added 12 to close out the Rams double-figure scoring.
Turnovers plagued a majority of the game as
each team turned the ball over 25 times. However, the
Rams were able to combat their turnovers by shooting 52 percent from
the field (25/48) in the game and 75 percent from the free throw
line (30/40)
Mobile will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at
home against Pensacola Christian College before hitting the road
to face Division I opponent Rice University on Saturday, Nov. 20
at 3 p.m.
