Rams dominate #4 Faulkner thanks to a powerful second half

MOBILE, Ala--- The University of Mobile men’s basketball team was hitting on all cylinders Monday night as they manhandled 4th-ranked Faulkner University 87-67.  

In the first half the teams battled back and forth.  The Rams constructed a 9-0 run with 7 minutes to play in the half, but Faulkner fought back with an 8-0 run of their own with 5 minutes to play.  Thanks to Marcus Yeager’s ten points off the bench the Rams were able to go into half with a 39-37 lead.

The start of the second half was much like the first, both teams battling for the lead.  Then, the Rams broke it open with 13 minutes to play.  The team built a 10-point lead and never looked back.  While Faulkner made a few runs, the Eagles were only able to get as close as five points.  Mobile closed out the game with a 21-7 run in the final nine minutes. The Rams were able to out score Faulkner by 18 points in the second half.  Giving Mobile the 20-point victory.

As a team, the Rams shot 58% on the night, including a blistering 68% in the second half, while the Eagles shot a mere 35%.  Robert Jones led the way for the Rams with 23 points and 7 rebounds.  Yeager finished the game with 16 points. Walter Fitzgerald tallied 13 points and Elias Yeadon chipped in 12 points for the Rams to notch his first double-digit scoring effort with Mobile.

This is Mobile’s second consecutive win moving them to 2-2 on the season.  The Rams are in action again Saturday, November 24 against visiting Wesley College at 7 p.m.
