November 29, 2003 Men's Basketball Completes Sweep At Spring Hill Classic MOBILE,
Ala. -- The University of Mobile and Spring Hill College
both came away with wins Saturday night, in day two of the
Wells Fargo Classic, played at Spring Hill College. In
game one, the Rams defeated Purdue University - North Central
98-78.
The Panthers came out ready to play tonight, staying in the game for nearly the whole first half. Then the Rams took over, going on a number of runs, to pull off the win. The leading scorer was Tramaine Perry with 20. Jacob Frasier scored 16, Larry Burgess had 14, and Randy Jordan had 10. The Rams shot 51.4% from the field, and were 33.3% from behind the three-point arch. The Rams won the rebounding game 38-37. In game
two of the night, the Badgers pulled off a 80-67 victory
over Tennessee Temple University. The Badgers led from
the get-go, only having the scored tied early, at 6-6. The
Crusaders did have a strong run towards the end of the first
half, going on a 15-2 run, but the Badgers held them off. The
biggest lead was 16 points, twice in the first half and twice
in the second half. The leading scorer was Derrick
Kibler with 25 points. Nate Williams and Pierre DuVentre
both chipped in with 17 points. Pierre also had five
assists in the game. The Badgers shot 55.6% from the
field, and 79.3% from the free-throw line. With the
win, the Badgers are now 5-3 on the season.
The next
game for the Badgers will be Saturday, December 13th, when
they travel to Huntsville, Alabama, to take on Oakwood College. The
Badgers will then return home on Thursday, December 18th,
to play Faulkner University.
