Men’s Basketball Game to begin at 8 p.m., Free Admission
MOBILE, Ala. -- The University of Mobile men’s
basketball team (7-1) will play host to NAIA Division II Mid-American
Nazarene on Saturday, Dec. 13 at Pharr Gymnasium. The game time has been
changed from 7:30 p.m. to an 8 p.m. tip-off to accommodate traveling plans
for the visiting Pioneers and will be free of charge to the general public.
Mobile is coming off an 11-day layoff since their
last game on Dec. 2. In that game, the Rams avenged their only loss of
the season when they defeated Faulkner University 66-63.
Tramaine Perry is leading the Rams at 15.5 points a
game while grabbing 6.8 rebounds per contest. Mobile’s all-time block
leader Gimel Lewis continues to add to his record with 19 blocks so far in
eight games this season.
At 7-1, the Rams have climbed as high as No. 13 in
this week’s NAIA Division I Top 25 poll. SUNO, ranked at No. 7 and
Dillard University ranked at No. 23, join the Rams as the three schools
from the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference ranked in the top 25.
The Pioneers enter Saturday’s match-up at 8-5 on the
season and winners of three straight games. They are currently ranked 17th
in the NAIA Division II Top 25 poll.
After Saturday’s game, the Rams will head west to
Louisiana for a pair of games against NCAA Division I teams. On Monday,
Dec. 15 the Rams will face Nicholls State University before moving onto
Lafayette, La., for a match-up with Sun-Belt conference power University
of Louisiana-Lafayette on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
