UM Men Finish Regionals At #5

FT. GAINES, Ga-- The 21st-ranked University of Mobile men's golf team finished the Region XIII Tournament with a 5th-place finish and will now await word on a possible at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament.

Lee University took home top honors with a 3-round tally of 868 and the Rams finished 38-strokes back after carding a 906. The UM men fired a 300, 302 and 304 in the three rounds of play at Meadowlinks Gulf Club in Ft. Gaines, GA.

The Rams' top performer was Chris Kennedy, who fired bookend 72's to finish 4-over-par and in 9th place among individual golfers. Samuel Del Val of Berry College took top individual honors with an impressive 207, 9-under-par.

Cameron Smith finished in a tie for 20th after carding a 227 and Nathan Rau shot an opening round 72 en route to finishing 22nd with a 228. J.C. Todd improved his total each round and finished 27th with a 231. Jason Lautier fired a 3-round 235 and Alejandro Salcedo finished with a 241 at the tournament.

The 57th Annual NAIA Men's Golf National Championships will take place May 13-16 in Plymouth, Ind and the Rams are hoping for an at-large bid to the elite field, to extend their streak of 22 consecutive appearances (every year in the program's existence).
