"I have always enjoyed sports, playing soccer for about 6 years when I was younger, and playing on the golf team at Forest Hill High School in Jackson. Here I used the "grip it and rip it" philosophy. I have always known that I wanted to work with sports and have delved into play-by-play, television, newspaper, media relations and minor league baseball operations with the Huntsville Stars."
Matthew's experience that afforded him the opportunity to work here at such a wonderful University comes from working on high school and college newspaper staffs, as well as working with the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal. He also gained media relations experience by interning at a television station and the aforementioned baseball team. Experience in publications, web design, layout, etc came from upper-level college courses that provided real-world experience. His duties include maintaining the athletic web site, photography, media guides, gameday operations, statistics, press releases, media relations, etc.
He is currently single and resides in Mobile, Al with no sons or daughters.
