Rams pick up first win of season with 3-1 victory over Bryan College

DAYTON, Tenn. – For the second game in a row, the Rams (1-0-1) dominated their opponent, this time out-shooting Bryan College 12-3. However, unlike their previous game against Covenant College, Mobile found the back of the net and did so in a commanding fashion by scoring three goals in a ten minute span to win 3-1.

Bryan’s Scott Davidson connected off a 1-2 to score in the 40th minute of play in the first half.

Despite creating ample opportunities throughout the first half, it wasn’t until the 57th minute of the second half that Jason Providence was able to finish off a superb chip by Mathias Kruskemper as he caught goalkeeper Jon Sutton off his line.

The Rams struck again two minutes later as Jason Miniaci flicked a ball, played in by Edgar Morales, on to Andres Rota, who skinned his defender and rifled a shot to go up 2-1.

Miniaci once again found himself in the mix as he took a ball played into him down to the end line near the corner flag and served across the face of the goal to Bjorn Asbjornsson who scored his first collegiate goal and lifted Mobile to a 3-1 win.

The Rams will next take on NAIA top-25 Thomas University in the first game of the O’Charley’s Futbol Festival, hosted by the University of Mobile, on Friday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. They finish out the tournament with much-anticipated match-up against defending national champions University of Rio Grande on Saturday at 7 p.m.
