Rams Dominate First Half, Hold On For Win

MOBILE, Ala-- One day after seemingly finding their offense in a 4-0 victory over visiting Texas College, the University of Mobile men’s soccer team continued to find the back of the net, jumping out to a 3-0 half-time lead over previously 6-0 Bryan College, and holding on for the 3-0 win.

Onesimus Ikongo, who had 0 goals entering play, tallied the first score for Mobile when he rocketed a volley off the keeper into the net. Geert Slits followed up with Mobile’s 2nd goal of the night when he drove a Caetano Lima feed top-shelf at the 19:18 mark.

Transfer Matt Watts added the final half-time score when he knocked home a penalty kick at the 9:53 mark.

That explosive first half was all the Rams needed and all they would get, as the game ended with the same 3-0 score. The Rams continued to put on pressure, finishing with 17 shots and 9 shots on goal, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Bryan College was able to mount a few more attacks, but the few times they could get shots on goal, Rams’ goalkeeper Adrian Rochofski was up to the challenge.

Mobile moves to 2-2-1 on the season and next play Auburn-Montgomery on September 15th at home. The game will start at 7:00 pm.
