Mobile to host Bellevue University
in Homecoming matchup
MOBILE, Ala. -- The University of Mobile Rams (5-3-1) enter their
Homecoming tilt with Bellevue University (5-4-0) with momentum after
defeating sixth-ranked and previously un-beaten William Carey College
(8-1-1), 4-2 Tuesday night in The Jungle.
Kickoff against Bellevue is set for Saturday, Oct. 2 at 5:30 p.m.
immediately following the women's game at 3:30 p.m.
Mobile, which entered Tuesday night's on a two-game skid, came out
on fire, registering three first half goals before putting the final
nail in the coffin in the 87th minute on a goal from Jason Miniaci.
Meanwhile, Bellevue is off to a 5-4-0 start to the season but has
yet to play a game since Sept. 19, a layoff of nearly two weeks.
While these two teams have yet to meet on the season, they have each
played one common opponent.
Bellevue lost to Oklahoma City, 5-1, on Sept. 12, while Mobile defeated
the same Oklahoma City team, 4-3, in double overtime on Sept. 18.
Having dropped two games last week, the Rams fell from #12 in the
NAIA National Top 25 Poll all the way down to #25.
However, of the Rams’ three losses, two came against Top 4 teams,
Rio Grande University (No.1) and Lindsey Wilson College (No. 4) as
well a home loss last weekend to Biola University (No. 26) while collecting
wins over John Browns University (No. 17) and William Carey (No. 6).
Bellevue is not ranked.
So far on the season, Bellevue is led by Matt Severa’s 14 points.
Sevra has scored five goals, while recording four assists.
Starting goalkeeper, Daniel Galvis has allowed just eight goals in
six matches, recording 27 saves, pitching one shutout and posting a
4-0 record.
