Notre Dame College defeats UM, 2-1

MOBILE, Ala. -- Notre Dame College (9-1-1) defeated the University of Mobile men's soccer team 2-1 Friday night in a match played in The Jungle on the University of Mobile campus.

The Rams jumped on the board first as Andrew Humphris beat the Notre Dame goalkeeper with a chip shot on a long pass from teammate K.K. Lima.

However, Notre Dame struck back just minutes later on a direct free kick that was headed in, knotting the game at 1-1.

Just before the half, Notre Dame struck again to take a 2-1 lead into the lockeroom.

The Rams (1-4-2) had multiple scoring chances in the first half and could have easily been ahead by three goals early in the game.

With the Rams already leading 1-0, Alex Sesto sent a beautiful pass into the center of the 18-yard box where two UM players awaited the pass.  The ball bounced over the first player's header attempt and Humphris' follow up shot bounced off the cross bar.  Minutes laters, Dean Logan's header found the back of the net but was wiped off the scoreboard after he was called for offsides.

The Rams had five shots on goal to the Falcons three in the game.

Mobile will return to the field tomorrow evening as they host Cumberland University in the team's homecoming game.  Match time is set for 5:30 p.m. with homecoming festivities to take place during halftime.
