MOBILE, Ala. – Two first-half goals were all
four-time defending national champion Lindsey Wilson College needed to
topple the top-ranked University of Mobile men’s soccer team 2-0. Opening
up with a blistering pace, the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders got on the
scoreboard early in the first half and never looked back as they handed
the Rams their first loss of the season.
Edging out the Rams with shots taken,
16-to-11, Lindsey Wilson managed to stave off the Rams who continued to
pressure until the very end. It was Lindsey’s Boyzzz Khumalo, a sophomore
from Soweto, South Africa, who got the Blue Raiders on the scoreboard in
the 7th minute.
In the 43rd minute, Lindsey’s
Joshua Bernard took advantage of a communication error in Mobile’s back to
dent the net and give the Blue Raiders their ninth win this season.
The Rams, now 10-1-1, will look to get things
back on track at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, as they play host to Berry
College.
