Mobile falls at home to Region XIII foe Berry College
MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's soccer team fell 5-2 despite out shooting the Vikings 14 to 8 in the game.
Berry took control of the game early, when they scored 3 goals in the first 23 minutes to take a commanding 3-0 lead over the Rams. All 3 goals came on looks inside the box, as they looked for quality shots over a large quantity of shots.
Mobile got on the board in the second half when Adam Barradell took a feed from Jason Providence and knocked it home at the 58:30 mark to cut the lead to 2. The Vikings crushed any hopes of a comeback by responding with two goals over the next 9 minutes. The first, coming 3:30 after Barradell's was a penalty kick and the second came on a dumped off free kick outside the top of the box.
Jason Providence finished the scoring for both teams when he punched home a shot deep in the box at the 75:30 mark. Aside from out shooting the Vikings, Mobile was also called for 16 more fouls (30-14) on the game.
The 5-8 Rams return to action Saturday at home versus arch-rival Spring Hill College. |
