UM Men defeat cross-town rival Spring Hill College 3-2

MOBILE, Ala -- The University of Mobile (10-4-1) men's soccer team defeated cross-town rival Spring Hill College 3-2 Wednedsay afternoon at Library Field on the Spring Hill College campus.

The win marked the 10th on the season for the Rams who will wrap up their regular season on Friday against Brescia University at Noon in Montevallo, Alabama.

The Rams jumped on the board early with a goal from Bjorn Asbjornson in the sixth minute on an assist from Dean Logan.

Holding onto a 1-0 lead at halftime, the Rams extended their lead to 2-0 early in the second half on Asbjornson's second goal of the game in the 53rd minute.

Not to be outdone, the Badgers came right back.  Trailing 2-0, Alex Zucchi kicked in a loose ball infront of the Badger goal cutting the Rams lead in half to 2-1.  Just two minutes later, the Badgers struck again tying the game at 2-2 on a goal from Juan Diego Espinoza.

However, the Rams again responded and took over the lead for good in the 65th minute when Junior Pamponette kicked in the game-winner on Logan's 2nd assist of the game.

The Rams, 10-4-1 on the year, will close out the regular season on Friday, Oct. 29 at Noon when they make up an earlier season cancelled game with Brescia University in Montevallo, Alabama.  The game, originally scheduled for Oct.18 will be played at the University of Montevallo, a half way point for each team.
