UM Men win regular season finale 2-0 over Brescia University

MONTEVALLO, Ala. -- The University of Mobile (11-4-1) closed out their regular season with a 2-0 victory over Brescia University (15-3-1) Friday afternoon in game played at the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama.

The Rams were forced to make up this game today after their original game with Brescia was cancelled on Oct. 18 due to inclement weather.

After a scoreless first half, the Rams finally got things going in the 68th minute on a goal by Junior Pamponette.  Pamponette, who receieved the ball off a long throw in by Mathias Kruskemper, turned towards the goal and fired a hard shot into the right corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead.

Just 15 minutes later, the Rams capitalized again.  This time, the Rams used a free kick to find the back of the net.  Edgar Morales began the play by laying the ball out to Andres Rota, who fired a shot into a charging defense.

The ball deflected off of the defensive wall and scooted right towards sophomore Travis Bailey who took full advantage by scoring just his second goal of the season giving Mobile a commanding 2-0 lead.

Mobile outshot Brescia 18-11 in the game and took one more shot on goal than did Brescia.

James Beggs came up big again for the Rams saving seven shots and recording his fifth shutout of the season

Pamponette was credited with the game-winning goal, his second game-winning goal of the season.

The Rams will take the next week off while preparing the Region XIII Tournament.  The tournament will begin on Saturday, Nov. 6.
