Mobile Falls 2-1 in Regional Tourney

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to #17 Lee University in the semifinals of the Region XIII Tournament Saturday night at home.

Lee used a pair of goals from Ricardo Pierre-Louis and some brilliant goalkeeping from backup keeper Rory McKay to take the game.

Pierre-Louis' 26th goal of the season came with just 2:40 left in the opening half, off of a feed from teammate Phil Drummond that set up Pierre-Louis nicely in the box.

McKay was forced into action just minutes into the opening period due to an injury and his 6 first-half saves kept the Rams off the board in the first half.

The Rams fought back in the 2nd half and Cateano Lima unleashed a rocket into the top corner from about 35 yards out at the 69:16 mark of the game. Ten minutes later, Pierre-Louis added his 27th goal of the year when he split the Mobile defense and shot the ball over a diving Adrian Rochofski for the decisive goal.

Mobile battled and Morgan Copes set the team up with a game-tying opportunity. Copes picked up a loose ball and took it hard into the box, where he was taken down to set up a penalty kick. Matt Watts, who was 4-for-4 on penalty kicks coming into action, kicked it straight, hoping the keeper would dive, but McKay dropped to the ground and trapped the ball with his legs to win it for the Flames.

The Rams (14-4-1) will still gain an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championship which begins November 14th.
