UM Men Fall To Embry Riddle in National Tournament

OLATHE, Kan. - No. 19 Embry-Riddle extended its current winning streak to eight games thanks to a 2-0 second-round win over No. 3 Mobile (Ala.) this afternoon at the NAIA National Championship. Junior forward Joe Yoffe came up with his 10th goal of the year, on a penalty kick in the 61st minute, to send the Eagles to the Quarterfinal round on Nov. 17.

Junior midfielder AJ Barrett extended the ERU lead to 2-0 in the 87th minute with an assist credited to Sam Litchfield.

Defense was a theme throughout as there were a combined seven shots on goal. Netminder Ian Levine notched the shutout for Embry-Riddle halting three shots on goal.

Embry-Riddle will now face the winner of No. 6 Concordia (Calif.) and No. 11 Graceland (Iowa) at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Mobile, who gets shut-out for just the second time all year, concludes its season at 14-5-1.

 

UM Men #3 Seed For NAIA National Tournament

KANSAS CITY, Mo.-- The University of Mobile men's soccer team will be the #3 seed when the NAIA National Tournament begins November 14th in Olathe, Kan.

The Rams (14-4-1) fell in the semifinals of the Region XIII Tournament, but received an at-large bid to the 20-team field of the 49th Annual Championships.

Other teams in the Rams' side of the bracket are Auburn-Montgomery, Southern Nazarene, Mid-Continent, Lindsey Wilson, Concordia, Graceland, and Judson.

Mobile last played in the National Tournament in 2004, when they lost in the first round. The 2 years prior to that, the team won the National Championship in 2002 and made it to the quarterfinals in 2003.
