Men's soccer set to face Azusa Pacific in NAIA National Tournament MOBILE, Ala. -- No. 8-seeded University of Mobile (12-5-1) will face No. 9-seeded Azusa Pacific University (16-1-2) in the second round of the of the men's soccer NAIA National Tournament Friday, Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. The Rams received a bye through the first round. Mobile, which lost to Berry College in the Semifinals of the Region XIII tournament last week, received an at-large bid to the national tournament. Azusa Pacific also lost in their regional tournament, their only loss on the season, to Holy Names in a penalty kick shootout in the regional championship game. The Cougars, who scored 59 goals on the season, are led by Andriy Budnyy who leads the team all major statistical categories with 20 goals scored, nine assists and 49 total points. The Rams will lean on freshman forward Bjorn Asbjornson who leads the Rams with a team-high eight goals this season, including two game-winning goals. If the Rams win on Friday, they will play the winner of Thursday's first matchup between No. 1-seeded Linsey Wilson College and No. 16-seeded Bethel College on Saturday, Nov. 20 Click here to follow all of the action live. -30- |
