UM men's soccer falls to Lee 3-1
MOBILE, Ala-- Three second-half goals in the span of 10 minutes doomed the University of Mobile men's soccer team Saturday.
Both teams played to a 0-0 tie at halftime, with nether getting serious looks at the goal early. Mobile changed all of that in the second half when Jack St. Hilaire headed home a cross from Caetano Limo at the 48 minute mark. Limo took the ball down the sideline and then found Hilaire deep in the box to take the 1-0 lead. Lee came close to tying the game 2 minutes later, but their shot bounced off the post.
At the 78 minute mark, Lee University tied the match by deflecting a long free-kick into the goal past James Beggs. 30 seconds later, the Flames took the lead for good when a rebound into an open goal was good.
With Mobile unable to tie the match, Lee put it away at the 87:30 mark when Beggs and an attacking Lee player slid for a through-ball. The Flames won the battle and the ball found the back of the net for the final touch.
Lee outshot the Rams 22-10 on the day and Mobile was called for 21 fouls versus 12 for Lee. Beggs still had a tremendous match, finishing with 7 saves in the losing effort. Mobile is now 3-5 on the season and plays at home Tuesday versus William Carey.
