UM men take down William Carey

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's soccer squad made use of a couple of free kicks to move to 4-5 on the season.

With neither team able to get an edge early, Mark Rich and Dean Logan teamed up to put Mobile ahead in the first half. At the 18 minute mark, Rich served a free kick from the corner into the box and Logan headed the ball behind himself into the goal.

It looked like the Crusaders would tie things early in the second half, but Ram goalkeeper James Beggs stopped a breakaway threat in the 49th minute to preserve the lead. Senior Mark Robinson, working his way back from an injury, scored the second goal of the day with a low blast to the far corner of the goal.

Three and a half minutes later, Caetano Limo knocked a free kick into the box, where Darren Spong finished the play with a header past the goalkeeper.

The Rams are now 1-0 in GCAC play and return to action Saturday at the Jungle versus Milligan College.
